How to Record Customer Payments Received
Learn how to record customer payments against outstanding invoices, allocate partial settlements, and update bank balances.
Before You Start (Prerequisites)
- At least one posted invoice with status SENT or PARTIALLY_PAID
- An active Bank or Cash account in your Chart of Accounts
Step-by-Step Instructions
1
Open Invoice or Payments Received
You can click "Record Payment" directly on any unpaid invoice, or navigate to "Sales" > "Payments Received".
2
Specify Received Amount & Payment Method
Enter the payment amount (supporting full or partial settlements).
Select the payment method: Bank Transfer, Cheque, Online Transfer, or Cash.
3
Select Destination Bank Account
Choose which company account received the funds (e.g. Meezan Bank Corporate Account or Cash on Hand).
4
Post Payment Voucher
Click "Save Payment". The invoice status updates to PAID or PARTIALLY_PAID, and the General Ledger debits Bank and credits Accounts Receivable.
